Walking with Lions was one of the most anticipated activies of my trip, not including trekking to the Mountain Gorillas in Uganda. I heard about this opportunity from a friend while I was planning our two month honeymoon to Africa, although he spoke of a place called Antelope Park in Gweru, Zimbabwe, about an eight hour bus ride from the capital of Harare. Of course, this was two years ago, before the major political strife occuring there now.

We decided that Antelope Park would be too far of our route but we desparately wanted to experience the lions. Luckily, in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, you can walk with the lions for about an hour for around $100US. The experience, which they dub the African Lion Encounter, is operated by Safpar (http://www.safpar.com/lion_encounter.htm).
