Welcome to Bakpak Girl

Bakpak Dave is excited to launch our new Bakpak Girl section with articles, videos and tips from our very first Bakpak Girl, Rachel Haltom (more about her later). While the Bakpak Girl section is in its infancy, our goal is to create an awesome and inspiring travel community catering to the female backpacker and independent traveler. Our mission is to empower Bakpak Girls to feel safe and excited to travel the world solo, with friends or with significant others. For this section, Bakpak Dave will hand over the reigns to experienced female travelers and looks forward to the day his daughter, now 6, comes down with her own case of the travel bug.

I am very excited to have Rachel take the lead as our first Bakpak Girl! Rachel caught my attention after she posted a link to her Gofundme page on Bakpak’s Facebook page and she has impressed me ever since.

The purpose of her project was to raise money (just $800) in order to travel to Budapest to intern at a hostel and learn about hostel culture. Her goal is to bring this culture back to the US hostel industry. Awesome idea, very exciting and as a former hostel owner myself, I wanted to know more about Rachel.

Rachel is just finishing her first year at the University of Kentucky and has already backpacked Europe (last year) and eager to see more. Se’s got the travel bug and I am excited to have her provide her travel tips for female travelers. She will be posting a new article or video each week so be sure to tune in for starting Monday April 6 for her first post. And if you have any suggestions on what you’d like to see in our Bakpak Girl section, shoot an email to bakpakgirl@bakpakguide.com
