Spring comes slowly to Canada, but when it lands, look out. Flowers burst out of their casings and so do Canadians, in a flurry of activities and festivals to welcome the new warmth. Montreal in particular has an excellent spring festival schedule, but all over the country you will find heaps of music, art, and food to reignite your spirit and get your juices flowing along with the melting snow. Skiing and snowboarding are still popular springtime activities in Canada as the mountains stay powder fresh well into the season, and from March to April you can experience spectacular sky event of aurora borealis: the northern lights. This is the season for bird watching and flower peeping as the flora and fauna of Canada wake up and smell the sunshine. You will still need warm clothing and appropriate gear in the Canadian springtime, but with a little pluck and determination you will find that spring will make you sing, no matter what part of the country you are in.
