Banff, Canada’s first national park (3rd worldwide) is located in the Canadian Rockies, east of Vancouver. The Canadian Rockies are breathtaking and tons of adventure activities are on offer here, any time of the year.
Getting To Banff
By Car
Banff is 1.5 hours from Calgary, 10hours from Vancouver along the Trans Canada Hwy and 6.5 hours from Kelowna.
Tours
Moose Travel Network offers excellent jump on/jump off tours include Vancouver to Calgary via Banff and Lake Louise or separate tours of the Rockies from Banff or Calgary. Tours run 2-4 days for the Rockies region and longer on the overall West Passes from Vancouver.
Coach
Greyhound Canada is located at 850 - 16th Street (403-263-1234). From Vancouver its $127Cn (14hrs); from Calgary $27Cn (1.5hrs).
Rail
There is no rail service to/from Banff. The nearest rail stop is in Jasper National Park or Edmonton.

Banff National Park
Wildlife you may find here include bighorn sheep, deer, coyote and black bears. Walking down the street you are most likely to see elk. The Visitor Centre is located at 224 Banff Ave in the town of Banff and is open 365 days per year. The rangers offer guided hikes and interpretive programs from the visitor center and the Tunnel Mountain Campground theatre.
Lake Louise
Lake Louise, in Banff National Park, is set against the backdrop of Victoria Glacier. It’s one of the most photographed locations in the Rockies. The Lake is located about 35 miles north of the town of Banff.
