Ferry to/from Vancouver Island leave from Tsawwassen Terminal (BC Transit bus 601 to 640) or from Horseshoe Bay Terminal (BC Transit bus 257). Both terminals are about 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Ferry costs $10.55Cn one-way.
