Canadian Badlands and Dinosaurs

Bakpak Staff Writer Shilo Urban

trip-idea-badlands

This quick trip begins and ends in the charming city of Calgary, the gem of western Canada. From there you will immerse yourself in the heart of the Canadian Badlands, an otherworldly terrain of ridged rock formations and lunar landscapes. Cap off your trip back in time at the Dinosaur Provincial Park where amazing fossils of the extinct reptiles await your awe.

Highlights

Try to count the centuries by geological strata in the Drumheller Valley, and then try to name the many Hollywood blockbusters filmed in this eerie region. Hire a guide at Dinosaur Provincial Park to truly follow the steps of the dinosaurs, and return to civilization at last in Calgary where museums, theatres, nightclubs bust at the seems with young movers and shakers who were born ready.

Suggested Route

Starting Point: Calgary
Ending Point: Calgary

Time Frame: 5 Days +/-

After spending a few days exploring Calgary, head north on Highway 5 and then east on Highway 9 to Drumheller. Head due south to connect with the Trans Canada Highway, and then travel east to get to Dinosaur Provincial Park. Return to Calgary, about a two hour drive west.
