Edinburgh
Edinburgh quite gracefully and deservedly holds its title as the capital of Scotland.
Named after old King Edwin of the 12th century, this now cosmopolitan city is a juxtaposition of a youthful artistic culture against a backdrop of hundreds of historical architectural landmarks sitting on the base of the magnificent Firth of Forth. It is during the month of August that the brilliance of Scotland’s artistic talent shines when the Edinburgh Festival/Fringe Festival takes hold of the city. Thousands of tourists flock to Edinburgh to experience this unique and vibrant community.
Edinburgh is an hour’s drive west of Glasgow and a 4-hour rail trip (6-7hrs by bus) north of London.
Lothian Regional Transport operates an extensive network of buses including night buses that kick in at midnight until approximately 4am.
The tourist info center is located at 3 Princes Street at Waverly Market.
