Madrid is somewhat daunting and not so pretty at first, but after a couple of days in this bustling city, you will understand why it is the capital of Spain. Large and vibrant with an equally energetic population, Madrid’s cafes, bars and nightclubs are never- ending…it’s almost exhausting. There are a number of parks, monuments and museums, including the must see-Prado, to occupy your days. Take your time and explore the cities restaurants, shops, markets and historic sites.

Known for its large university and student population, Salamanca is a pillar in the Castilian region. Sitting between Madrid and Portugal, it is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Golden standstone buildings sit amidst grand Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Glorious plazas, such as the incomparable Plaza Mayor, unfold unique bazaars and shops. Boasting some of the most exceptional cathedrals and churches, this historic city is easily explored on foot.

The essence of Moorish Spain, historic Sevilla is a crucial stop if you plan on exploring Spain. There is so much to learn, see and do in this city of Carmen, Figaro and Don Juan. Sitting on the banks of the Rio Guadalquivir, Sevilla’s beauty shines not just in its many churches, balconies, bull rings and gothic architecture, but in the warm, sensual charm and wit of Sevillians themselves.

Costa del Sol - Extending from Malaga towards Gibraltar, with towns such as Torremolinos and Marbella in between, the Costa del Sol is a great departure from the provincial and historical character of much of Andalucia. High rise hotels, packed beaches, jammed nightclubs, and lots of flashy jewelry, clothes and cars give off a Miami Beach feel (towns towards Almeria, such as Nerja, have prettier beaches and more character).

Granada - Most flock to this historic Andalucian city for a glimpse of the magnificent Alhambra. Sitting in the shadow of the stunning Sierra Nevada mountains, this city still has a haunting Moorish flavor and a mystical feeling.
