Day: 1 | Location: Edinburgh - Plockton
Leaving Edinburgh we head straight for the Highlands. First stop is Stirling and Braveheart Country(William Wallace, King Robert the Bruce and Rob Roy), you'll hear all the history and legends, with plenty of walks and time off the bus. Then we wind through some of Scotland's finest glens (stunning mountain valleys, if you didn't already know!), including Glen Garry, Glen Nevis and breathtakingGlencoe (hear about the massacre of Clan MacDonald). Then it's onto the Atlantic coastline staying at Stromeferry, our home for 2 nights. We also sometimes stay in the beautiful village of Plockton - famous for the TV series Hamish Macbeth.
Day: 2 | Location: Isle of Skye
A full and active day round the Isle of Skye, with lots of walks and time to take in the magic. You'll see the Cuillin Mountains, the Old Man of Storr (an incredible Jurassic pillar) and hear some amazing legends, visit the fascinating Kilt Rock, and take in absolutely awe-inspiring panoramas in the Quiraing. Perfect preparation for a few wee drams in the local pub, to reflect on a day of tales and legends.
Day: 3 | Location: Isle of Skye - Edinburgh
Our first stop is a visit to Eilean Donan Castle(where Highlander was filmed) followed by a spot of monster hunting on Loch Ness (of course!). In the afternoon it's time for an emotional visit to tragic Cullodenbattlefield (Bonnie Prince Charlie's last stand) before winding our way through the Cairngorm Mountains. Our final stop (time allowing) is a gentle walk through the beautiful Hermitage Forest. Finally, home to Edinburgh, tired and happy honorary Scots!
Please Note: Saturday departures, May to September we spend one night at Stromeferry and the other night in the Great Glen or near Loch Ness.
Tour itineraries and accommodation can vary due to acts of God etc, but we normally stick to this. Kitty includes hostels, evening meals and breakfast.
All of our guides are born and bred Scots with unrivalled knowledge and passion for their homeland. They are trained to the highest standards and are all fantastic storytellers - nothing less will bring to life the vibrant history, enchanting legends and deep rooted culture of our proud nation.
All of the Wild in Scotland team are or have been driver guides for the company. We derive from different backgrounds but all have certain things in common; an enthusiasm and passion for Scotland, a desire to show it off, an ability to work together as a team, a liking for meeting folk from all over the world and for giving them a great time. The team is young (mid 20's - 30's) and energetic.
We are the only backpacker company in Scotland that operates smaller buses (16 seats max) which we believe is an ideal number to travel in (without feeling as though you are part of a gaggle of tourists!).
We are the only backpacker company in Scotland to operate the Kitty system. Covering accommodation, breakfasts, evening meals and ferry crossings (where applicable), it means that we keep the cost down for you as a traveller and also allows you to sit back and relax knowing that everything has been taken care of for you.
