The major cities of England, Ireland and Scotland offer a great introduction to new travelers and can be easily traveled by budget airline, quickly and inexpensively. These cities are more expensive than other European destinations, however, you won't have to worry about understanding the language - mostly just the accents!
Note: this trip can be traversed in either direction but often you will find the best flight deals into/out of London from the States and budget flights between the capital cities once in Europe.
