St. Augustine St. Augustine is the oldest city in America. That’s right, 441 years old, founded in 1565! There’s lots to do here in this town of cobblestone streets and European architecture.
Orlando Did you know that Orlando offers more than just theme parks and Disney World? But just in case, the major theme parks include Disney Magic Mtn/Epcot ($67 each), Wet & Wild ($36), Sea World ($62) and the Kennedy Space Center ($31).
Miami offers everything from one of the best nightlife scenes in the world to fabulous beaches to interesting and varied cultural experiences. Miami is a great base or starting point to explore Fort Lauderdale, the Everglades or Key West. Miami Beach is where it’s at and where the hostels are.
Fort Lauderdale this fun city is only 30 miles north of Miami and 200 miles south of Orlando. The beaches and clear blue waters make it a great destination to chill out and enjoy Florida at its best.
Clearwater Beach located on the west coast of Florida, 90 miles from Orlando, 20 miles from Tampa and 284 miles from Miami, Clearwater Beach is the home of pristine white sand beaches, clear Gulf of Mexico waters and loads of warm sunshine. Great stopping point on your way to/from Miami or if you just want to chill out for a while.
Everglades National Park this 1.5 million acre park stretches across the southern tip of Florida and is the third largest National Park in the US. Everglades means “marshy land of tall grass.” The park’s diverse eco-system contains fresh and salt water areas, prairies, forests and swamps. It’s also home to American alligators and crocodiles, sea turtles, birds, fish and the endangered Florida panther. Make sure you have insect repellent. Lots of it! Florida City is a good base for trips to the park.
