Exploring Key West

This tropical paradise sports the southern-most tip of the continental US and is the perfect place to relax all day and party all night.

Getting There

Key West is a 3.5 hr drive south from Miami. By car, take I-95 to US 1. Greyhound travels to Key West, stopping at 6151/2 Duval St. (305) 296-9072

Getting Around

Key West is only 8,000 acres in size, so walking is easy and a great way to experience the island. Try not to drive unless you have to – parking spots are difficult to find. You can also rent a bicycle or moped.

Things to See & Do

Key West Chamber of Commerce is at Old Mallory Square and is open daily. Pick up a copy of Sharon Wells’ Walking & Biking Guide to Historic Key West.

Hemingway’s House
About 50 5-toed cats (descendents of Hemingway’s cat) wander the grounds of Ernest Hemingway’s gorgeous former house. Open daily for tours. $12. 907 Whitehead St.

The Southernmost Point
Designated by a white, cone-shaped monument, beware of camera-snatchers who offer to take your picture. Located at the southern end of Whitehead St.

Sunset Pier
Located on the water in Mallory Sq. at the end of Duval St., this pier is the best place to watch Key West’s famous sunsets. Get there early for good seats and stay after dark – drinks are cheaper once the sun goes down.

Key West is a great place to party. Most bars have excellent happy hours and don’t close until 3 or 4am. The best bars can be found on Duval St. on the southern end of the island.
