Chicago Getaway Hostel has the attitude and atmosphere of a hostel with the cleanliness and comforts of a boutique hotel. You’ll have no trouble meeting other travelers in our spacious, modern common areas and newly renovated rooms. We’re a party hostel where you can get some sleep if you wish. We’re in a youthful neighborhood with hundreds of bars and restaurants, but just a short train ride to the Loop. We know Chicago and we’d love to help you get to know our city.

What makes us different from other Chicago hostels? We ALLOW alcohol and other hostels don’t. We have a large amount of private rooms, other hostels don’t. We have a lovely outdoor patio, other hostels don’t. We’re in an area with a thriving nightlife, other hostels are not.

We live in Chicago and we love Chicago.  We would love to direct you to places that the typical tourist does not find.  Stop by the front desk if you’re going out for a beer…..we might want to join you!

From Chicago O’Hare Airport
By Public Transportation

This will take about 45 minutes to one hour. It is inexpensive ($2.25) and also a good way to get a tour of the city. The Blue Line is a mix of above ground tracks and subway while the Brown Line is an elevated train (”The L”) and has an excellent view of the neighborhoods as well as the Loop. At O’Hare, just follow the signs to the city trains.

* Take the BLUE LINE TRAIN (Trains will be waiting. Just enter any train with open doors)
* Exit the train at the CLARK/LAKE stop and transfer to the BROWN LINE TRAIN. Do not leave the station and follow signs to the BROWN LINE TRAIN (go up three levels to the elevated trains)
* Take the BROWN LINE TRAIN towards Kimball and exit the train at the FULLERTON stop.
* Walk to 616 W. ARLINGTON PLACE:
o Walk 0.35 mile E on W Fullerton Ave.
o Turn left on N Orchard St.
o Walk a short distance N on N Orchard St.
o Turn right on W Arlington Pl.
o Walk 0.10 mile E on W Arlington Pl.

A taxi from O’Hare Airport to the hostel costs about $30 to $45 and take about 30 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. To find a taxi at the airport, follow the signs to “Ground Transportation.”

From Chicago Midway Airport
Public Transportation

This will take about 45 minutes to one hour. It is inexpensive ($2.25) and also a good way to get a tour of the city. The Orange Line is an elevated train (”The L”) and the Red Line is a combination of elevated train and subway. At Midway, just follow the signs to the city trains.

* Take the ORANGE LINE TRAIN (Trains will be waiting. Just enter the train with open doors)
* Exit the train at the ROOSEVELT stop and wait on the platform. A RED LINE TRAIN towards Howard will arrive shortly.
* Take the RED LINE TRAIN towards Howard and exit the train at the FULLERTON stop.
* Walk to 616 W. ARLINGTON PLACE:
o Walk 0.35 mile E on W Fullerton Ave.
o Turn left on N Orchard St.
o Walk a short distance N on N Orchard St.
o Turn right on W Arlington Pl.
o Walk 0.10 mile E on W Arlington Pl.

* Walk from UNION STATION to the BROWN LINE TRAIN at QUINCY and WELLS (see the map below):
o Walk South on Canal St.
o Turn left and go East on Jackson Blvd.
o Turn left and walk a short distance North on S. Wells St.
Proceed up the stairs at QUINCY and WELLS to take the BROWN LINE TRAIN towards Kimball and exit the train at the FULLERTON stop.
Walk to 616 W. ARLINGTON PLACE:

* Walk 0.35 mile E on W Fullerton Ave.
* Turn left on N Orchard St.
* Walk a short distance N on N Orchard St.
* Turn right on W Arlington Pl.
* Walk 0.10 mile E on W Arlington Pl.

Taxi

A taxi to the hostel from Union Station will cost about $10 to $15 and take about 15 minutes. Just go to the street and grab the first taxi you see.
