HI - San Francisco Fishermans Wharf

Hostelling International's San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Hostel is the most popular budget option in the city!

Dorms $23+, Private $58+

The first and most famous hostel in the "City by the Bay," HI-San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf is the ideal choice for travelers who prefer green grass and birdsong to the frenetic pace of urban life.

HI-San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf is housed in the historic Fort Mason Center at the edge of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, one of California's most beautiful and diverse National Parks. The hostel sits right on the waterfront, overlooking the San Francisco Bay with stunning views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. Scenic, paved foot/bike paths run between the hostel and the water, east to Fisherman's Wharf and west to the Marina Green, making for a beautiful, bayside morning walk or ride whichever direction you choose. Fort Mason is worthy of exploration in and of itself, boasting numerous theaters, galleries, performance spaces, classes, and outdoor activities, as well as the famous, gourmet vegetarian restaurant Greens.

Despite its quiet park setting, though, the hostel is conveniently located between the Marina district and the Fisherman's Wharf/North Beach neighborhood. It's only a brisk walk or bus ride to Chinatown, Downtown, and all the restaurants, nightlife, and shopping to be found in the heart of the city.

We offer both dorms and private rooms (which can accommodate up to four people), with lockers in each room. Free linen and towel service are available, as well as daily housekeeping service. Laundry facilities are available on site. A free continental breakfast is provided every morning in our on-site restaurant, Cafe Franco, which also serves healthy, organic lunches and dinners at affordable prices (one of the best kept secrets in Fort Mason). You can find many of the locals sitting elbow to elbow with the hostellers come lunch time, enjoying the great quality food. If you prefer to cook for yourself, you can whip up your own meals in our fully-equipped guest kitchen, and dine either in our spacious dining room or on our newly refurbished outdoor deck, soaking up the beautiful bay view.

The hostel is equipped with free WiFi, and provides high-speed internet facilities. Calling cards are also available for purchase. Cozy up at the end of your long day of sightseeing next to our wood-burning stove in our lounge, or make new friends over the foosball and pool table in the game room below. Or, you could join in on the numerous free or low-cost activities the hostel organizes, including pub-crawls, walking tours, and day trips out to the Napa Wine Country or to the gorgeous Yosemite Valley.

HI-San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf is the perfect place to "get away from it all" while still being within walking distance from the hustle and bustle of the city!
